Dr. Matthew Reichert joined the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) in February 2025, bringing a wealth of experience and a distinguished record of achievements to this role, having served in various leadership positions that have significantly advanced research initiatives and collaborations.
Before joining UHCL, Reichert served at the University of South Alabama since 2010, where he made noteworthy contributions as a full professor in the Department of Chemistry. Most recently, he held the positions of Associate Vice President for Research and Interim Director of Sponsored Projects Administration in the Office of Research and Economic Development. His leadership in these roles was instrumental in fostering a robust research environment at the institution.
Throughout his career, Dr. Reichert has been an active member and leader in several professional organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, the Society of Research Administrators International, and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities' Council on Research as a Research Leadership Fellow.
With a specialization in the synthesis and characterization of ionic liquids, additive manufacturing, and materials for carbon capture, his research has advanced both scientific understanding and practical applications in renewable energy and environmental sustainability. As a mentor and advisor, he has supported student and faculty development, promoting innovation and collaboration across disciplines, making him a valuable leader for our research community.
Dr. Reichert earned his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Alabama and a B.S. in Chemistry from Berry College.
