About Renee Chavez

Renee Chavez joined UHCL in February 2022 and as Faculty Affairs Coordinator, she is dedicated to supporting UHCL faculty. Under her areas of responsibility are faculty hiring, oversight of the promotion and tenure process, and chairing the Digital Measures advisory committee - implementing any system changes and uploading all teaching schedules and student evaluations. Additionally, she handles all faculty appointment letters, and other special projects that support the Office of the Provost.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree in communication studies from California State University, Fresno, Renee joined the Dean's Office of Continuing and Global Education as a Payroll & Contracts Coordinator. In this role, she managed faculty payroll and contracts, coordinated international travel grants and insurance, and provided administrative support for the study abroad office.

Following her time at Fresno State, Renee took on a new challenge as the Family & Community Coordinator in the district office at George I. Sanchez Charter Schools in Houston, Texas. In this role, she led outreach and recruitment efforts, managed the organization's social media and website, coordinated events, produced marketing materials, and nurtured community connections to increase visibility and awareness.
