The University of Houston-Clear Lake is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. College of Business Accreditations

AACSB Accredited The College of Business at the University of Houston-Clear Lake holds both business and separate accounting accreditation with The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. Recognition by AACSB symbolizes the commitment to continuous improvement of educational quality, regional engagement with business partners, and the effectiveness of our societal impact. AACSB holds its member institutions to standards of excellence as interpreted by peer review teams, accreditation committees, and Board of Directors. Fewer than 1 percent of the business schools in the world, and only one other public university in the Houston region, have earned both business and separate accounting accreditation.

 

College of Education Accreditations

The College of Education is accredited by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC).

We've earned national recognition for accomplishment and innovation, including the Christa McAuliffe Award for Excellence in Teacher Education.

The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has granted accreditation to the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.S.) program in the Department of Counseling, Special Education, and Diversity, College of Education at University of Houston-Clear Lake.

NAEYC Higher Education Program Early Childhood SealNAEYC Higher Education Program Early Childhood Seal The B.S. in Early Childhood Care and Education and the Interdisciplinary Studies B.A.S. with a major in Early Childhood Education – Educator of Young Children degrees at the University of Houston-Clear Lake are accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The current accreditation term runs from July 2022 through July 2029.

 

College of Human Sciences and Humanities Accreditations

The Human Factors Certificate and the Human Factors concentration in the M.S. Psychology program are both accredited by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

The National Strength and Conditioning Association has recognized the Kinesiology curriculum as preparing students for successful entrance into the career field.

The School Psychology program is approved by and has received National Recognition from the National Association of School Psychologists.

The PsyD in Health Service Psychology was fully accredited by the American Psychology Association in August 2023. The Bachelor of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

The Computer Science BS program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission's General Criteria and Program Criteria for Computer Science.

The Computer Information Systems BS program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission's General Criteria and Program Criteria for Information Systems and Similarly Named Computing Programs.

The Occupational Safety and Health - Safety (B.S.) program is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission's General Criteria and Program Criteria for Safety and Similarly Named Programs.

The Occupational Safety and Health - Industrial Hygiene (B.S.) program is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission's General Criteria and Program Criteria for Industrial Hygiene and Similarly Named Programs.

The Chemistry B.S. Program completed evaluation, assessment and re-accreditation by the American Chemical Society (ACS) in 2009, 2014, and 2021, and is on the ACS's list of approved Chemistry Programs nationwide.
