Curriculum and Instruction
The BFA curriculum has three core areas: Studio Art, Graphic Design and Art Education. You can move into specialized courses in one of these three areas after completing your core requirements. UHCL is dedicated to both the traditional fine arts as well as the most contemporary of practices. These programs are supported with outstanding studio facilities.
Career Opportunities
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree offers students a full experience in Fine Arts. Students leave the program with the unique ability to fill positions in the corporate world, strike out on their own ventures, compete in the art market and/or become a candidate for further study (MFA, MA).
Students with a BFA degree possess the professional skills to pursue such positions as: advertising designers, animators, art buyers and consultants, art directors for advertising, editorial, and journalistic applications, art teachers, book designers, corporate designers, creative directors, filmmakers, graphic artists, illustrators, magazine and package designers, painters, performance artists, photographers, photo editors, printmakers, sculptors, videographers, weavers and textile artists and more.
Student Resources
Are you a UHCL student looking to exhibit your work? Students graduating with a bachelor of fine arts degree are invited to submit works to the annual springtime BFA exhibition in the gallery. Still early in your academic career? No problem! All students are encouraged to propose exhibitions for the Artist Project Space (APS) Gallery, an exhibition area in Arbor North Building adjacent to the ceramics studios.
