Serious Games and Simulations Program
The Serious Games and Simulations B.A. program is no longer accepting students.
Program Overview/Mission
University of Houston-Clear Lake's Serious Games and Simulations program was designed
to meet an increasing demand in school classrooms and across all industry for highly-trained
game designers and developers. Created by faculty, this interdisciplinary program
includes coursework from all four colleges, providing experience in all aspects of game and simulation development. You'll learn valuable skills using the
latest software and applications, including Unity, Unreal, Adobe, and Maya.
With a degree in serious games and simulations from UH-Clear Lake, you'll be equipped
to enter lead positions in design, marketing, project management and others, earning
between $50-80K. The Greater Houston area has a rich environment of game development
companies and substantial investment in serious game and simulations in industry,
health care and government agencies. In addition, UHCL maintains partnerships with
highly sought-after companies like Tietronix Software, Inc., which readily employs
UHCL students and graduates.
Serious Games and Simulations Lab
In addition to a bachelor's degree, UHCL offers a lab in which students develop serious games and simulations, leading to a final capstone experience, a multi-faceted academic and intellectual project. Students involved in this lab won a prestigious award in 2018, in partnership with Tietronix Software, for developing the multi-platform, interactive 3D educational game "Code of Aegis." The game was created to encourage middle school students to problem-solve and think critically about science, technology, engineering and math topics.
With your Bachelor of Arts in Serious Games and Simulations from UHCL, you'll have what you need to design your own game for a successful, lucrative career.
