Lead and Learn as a STEM Student
To further the mission of the HSI STEM program, University of Houston-Clear Lake offers a number of student resources to expand the available educational and career opportunities.
The PSC learning community and student organization gives you the opportunity to network with others who can support you through your academic journey. As a member, you can benefit from numerous activities and opportunities, including peer mentorship, events like the STEM Challenge, support workshops and other opportunities.
The PSR student organization gives you the opportunity to network with others also pursuing undergraduate research experiences on campus. As a member, you can discuss research interests, learn about various research lab groups and further your skills as an undergraduate researcher.
PSC offers mentorship for students in the College of Science and Engineering. Peer mentors assist UHCL students' transition to college life by meeting with them on a regular basis to help enhance their academic success. They provide individual and small group mentoring to other STEM students by educating on relevant university, college and program-specific resources and processes. Mentors also connect students to resources, staff and other students. They also plan and lead weekly seminars while encouraging students and model appropriate behavior and involvement as a PSC student. Lastly, they inspire best practices, accountability, transparency, model self-assessment and exploration and encourage ethical decision-making.
The program's retention specialist is here to support your academic progress and discusses any challenges that might impede your progress and retention in your STEM degree.
The UHCL Student Success Center provides academic resources for students, including success proactive coaching to help you develop the skills needed to be a successful student. The Success Center also offers tutoring resources for academic needs.
