Minor in Youth and Police Studies

Explore the Relationship Between Law Enforcement and Adolescents

The Youth and Police Studies minor from UHCL begins with the premise that both youth culture and police culture exist in American society. By studying topics such as Developmental Theory/Teen Brain and Implicit Bias, and by participating in experiential learning with the Teen and Police Service Academy (TAPS), students learn to bridge the social distance between American youth and law enforcement.

Investigate Critical Themes in Law Enforcement

Your classes will explore topics including juvenile delinquency, policing and society, adolescent psychology and criminology. This is a fantastic course of study for people majoring in Sociology, Behavioral Sciences, Criminology and Public Service Leadership, as it can be applied to careers in social work, community organizing and law enforcement.
