Plastic Film Recycling Challenge
We are very excited to bring this opportunity to campus to help spread awareness on how, why, and where to properly recycle these materials. Plastic films are not typically accepted by curbside carts or single stream programs because they must be recycled separately from other recyclables. By engaging in this challenge, UHCL and the surrounding community will make positive environmental, social, economic, and educational sustainability impacts by diverting these materials from landfills.
Original Goal: Collect 500 lbs of plastic film materials between April 1 and September 30 to earn a park bench made of recycled plastic film from Trex!
Due to the popularity and overwhelming positive response, as well as the ongoing need, we have decided to continue this program indefinitely.
Donation Stats as of November 11, 2022
