Program Objectives
The objectives of the program are:
- To advance the career of professionals holding an associate's degree in information technology or a related field.
- To help information technology professionals learn about latest developments in their field.
- To address the shortage of information technology workers in the UHCL service area.
With a BS IT degree or BAS IT degree from UHCL, the world is your technological oyster. Graduates will have a better chance of getting a technical, administration or managerial position in information technology. Opportunities for careers in in systems and network administrations, technical management, technical support, website development, etc. have increased steadily. And these opportunities exist in the commercial, industrial, educational and governmental sectors.
UHCL alumni blend their solid technical knowledge with practical, hands-on training. Their training qualifies them for work in various technical and management positions developing, operating, maintaining and support information technology infrastructure.

Cisco Network Academy
The Information Technology (IT) division of College of Science and Engineering has partnered with Cisco and is now a Network Academy. The Network Academy will provide IT students an in-depth knowledge of network related topics, ranging from basic network design and theory to advanced topics related to CCENT and CCNA certification. Skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration are integrated in this curriculum and will help our students succeed in their careers. Our network program has a dedicated lab for teaching. The facility includes individual access to PC's, various networking devices, and servers. All networking classes will be conducted by instructors who are certified by the Cisco Network Academy.
CompTIA Academic Partner
The Information Technology (IT) division of College of Science and Engineering has partnered with CompTIA and is now a CompTIA Academic Partner. This partnership will provide IT students reduced rate certification exams.
