UHCL welcomes J-1 faculty scholars from Oman for cultural exchange and collaboration

As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, UHCL is committed to fostering global dialogue by welcoming two J-1 faculty scholars from Oman for the upcoming academic year. Dr. Said Al-Riyami will represent the College of Business (COB), while Dr. Laila Al-Salmi will join the College of Education (COE). The J-1 Exchange Visitor Program aims to provide participants with opportunities to engage with Americans, share their culture, enhance their English language skills, and develop new competencies that will benefit their future careers. UHCL earns 2024-2025 Military Friendly® School designation

The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) Division of Student Affairs (DSA) announces that the campus has earned the 2024-2025 Military Friendly® School designation. This accolade is awarded to institutions that were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Out of the 1,800 schools that participated in the survey, 537 received special awards for going above the standard.

UHCL’s Transforming Lives by Degrees celebrates 50 years

“Education has given me a new outlook on life. I firmly believe that knowledge is the vehicle for change.” These powerful words, spoken by an inmate of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), reflect the life-changing impact of UHCL's Transforming Lives by Degrees (TLD) program. For 50 years, TLD has provided incarcerated individuals with the opportunity to earn a college degree while serving time, offering not just an education, but a second chance.
