Biography
Brent Kice, Ph.D., is an associate professor of communication in the Department of
Communication and Studio Arts. He received his doctorate in communication studies
from Louisiana State University, his M.A. in Organizational Communication from Southeastern
Louisiana University, and his B.A. in Communications from Loyola University-New Orleans.
His research explores narratives of unification, encompassing various rhetorical techniques
designed to unite individuals into socially-constructed audiences. He investigates
this area through separate avenues, such as speeches, social media, and games, illustrating
a progression of rhetorical development from traditional speeches to the online realm.
His scholarly work has appeared in Public Relations Review, the Western Journal of
Communication, Res Rhetorica, Relevant Rhetoric, the Basic Communication Course Annual,
Poroi, Discourse, the Utah Journal of Communication, and the Texas Speech Communication
Journal, as well as several academic book chapters.
