Biography
Barbara Hales, Ph.D. is professor of history. She holds a M.A. in History from Pembroke
College Cambridge University, a M.A. in German Studies from the University of Arizona,
and a Ph.D. in comparative cultural and literary studies from the University of Arizona.
Her research focuses on German film and culture, gender, and medical ethics during the Third Reich. She has received research grants from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst and currently serves as the president for the Center for Medicine After The Holocaust Houston.
Professor Hales’ most recent book is entitled "Black Magic Woman: Gender and the Occult in Weimar Germany (2021)."
