Workers Comp
Workers compensation benefits are provided to UHCL employees through the State Office of Risk Management (SORM), in accordance with regulations set by the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission (TWCC). Workers' compensation is a state-regulated insurance program that pays medical bills and replaces some lost wages for employees who are injured at work or who have work-related diseases or illnesses.
The University has internal reporting procedures that employees and supervisors are required to follow in order to ensure the required state reporting requirements are met.

Workers' Compensation Health Care Network
The State Office of Risk Management (SORM), contracts with the CareWorks CompKey Plus HCN to assist employees in the selection of network providers to obtain prompt and appropriate medical treatment. Except for emergency care, employees who live within the CareWorks CompKey Plus Network coverage area are required to obtain medical care from a network provider to receive workers’ compensation benefits.

CareWorks Texas HCN Provider Directory
- Click on "Find a Provider" located in the top right corner of the home page.
- Choose Careworks TX HCN from the menu of plans/networks.
- Choose "Address Search" and enter TX and your zip code.
- Choose distance in miles that you prefer.
- For Provider Type, choose "Treating Providers".
- Click on Find Providers button.
