Mission
To support and empower the UHCL community by ensuring staff has access to relevant tools, learning resources, and developmental opportunities.
Training and Development
The University of Houston - Clear Lake Human Resources department currently offers
two professional development programs: Ascend and Hawk Power Hour. The university
has also partnered with LinkedIn Learning to provide unlimited convenient access to
its library of videos and courses.

Staff Education Benefits
Tuition Reimbursement
Full-time, benefits-eligible employees, who have been employed at least 6 months, and seeking a degree at UHCL are eligible to apply for reimbursement of up to $1,500 per semester. Employees seeking a degree at a different higher education institution, including UH-Downtown and UH-Main, can receive up to $1,000 per semester.
College Release Time
Full-time employees, who have completed 6 months of service, may request paid release time up to three hours per week to attend a class.
Library Services
Employees have full access to the Neumann Library Resources. If staff need help with using library resources, they can reach out to a Librarian in a few ways:
- Chat with Librarian feature on library website
- In-person help at the Library Help Desk
- Make an appointment with a Librarian
Librarians can assist with:
- Searching in the library catalog
- Locating library materials
- Guiding you in finding journal articles and other research resources
