Training and Development
The University of Houston - Clear Lake Human Resources department currently offers
two professional development programs: Ascend and Hawk Power Hour. The university
has also partnered with LinkedIn Learning to provide unlimited convenient access to
its library of videos and courses.

Staff Education Benefits
Tuition Reimbursement
The Tuition Reimbursement Program is designed to support and encourage employee development through formal education, with a priority on the attainment of a degree. Full-time, benefits-eligible employees, who have been employed at least 6 months, are eligible to apply for reimbursement of tuition and/or fees. Applications are required at the beginning of the semester.

College Release Time
Regular full-time employees, who have completed 6 months of service, may request paid release time up to three hours per week to attend a class. The request must be in writing on the College Release Time Application (PDF) and approved prior to registration. The course must be considered directly related to the current or prospective employment and judged to be of benefit to both the employee and the state.
Library Services
Employees have full access to the Neumann Library Resources. If staff need help with using library resources, they can reach out to a Librarian in a few ways:
- Chat with Librarian feature on library website
- In-person help at the Library Help Desk
- Make an appointment with a Librarian
Librarians can assist with:
- Searching in the library catalog
- Locating library materials
- Guiding you in finding journal articles and other research resources
