National Coastal Condition Assessment

Purpose/Objectives

To better address questions about national coastal conditions, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agreed to participate in a multi-agency effort to assess the condition of the nation's coastal resources. EIH was contracted to complete the national survey for all sites in the state of Texas.

Study Area

Coastal waters of the state of Texas

Project Period

2010

Description

In the summer of 2010, EIH sampled a total of 53 sites in the bays and estuaries along the Texas Coast. This sampling was part of the National Coastal Condition Assessment, a probabilistic survey designed and implemented by the EPA. Condition indicators sampled included water quality, sediment, benthic macroinvertebrates, and fish.
