Danielle DeChellis

Danielle DeChellis graduated from UHCL with a master’s in environmental science in 2024. While pursuing her degree, she worked at EIH as a graduate research assistant studying the ecology of the western chicken turtle in Texas. For her master’s project, titled “Influences of natural and anthropogenic factors on the distribution and habitat associations of the western chicken turtle (Deirochelys reticularia miaria) in Texas,” she used species distribution modeling to examine how natural and human-related factors shape the species’ range and habitat use. Danielle is currently a research technician with EIH.
