Danielle DeChellis is a research technician with the Environmental Institute of Houston (EIH) at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She earned her M.S. in Environmental Science at UHCL in 2024 and completed her B.S. in Environmental Geosciences from Texas A&M University in 2019. While pursuing her graduate degree, Danielle served as a graduate research assistant at EIH, focusing on the western chicken turtle in Texas for her master's project.
In addition to her master's research, Danielle contributed to many other EIH projects, including the Clean Rivers Program, diamondback terrapin monitoring, alligator snapping turtle trapping, and the EPA’s National Aquatic Resource Surveys. In her current role as a research technician, she continues supporting these efforts and is assisting with EIH’s Matagorda Bay Mitigation Trust study.
Danielle’s research interests lie in wildlife ecology and conservation, particularly trophic-level dynamics and natural and anthropogenic impacts on species. She enjoys spending quality time with family and pets and is a Houston native, though she loves traveling to mountainous, colder regions whenever she can.
