LyondellBasell Donates $10,000 to Support Environmental Education
March 9, 2015
LyondellBasell, one of the world's premier plastics, chemicals and refining companies, has contributed $10,000 to the University of Houston-Clear Lake's Environmental Institute of Houston for its environmental education programs. The donation will help fund three key programs for students in grades K-12.
Benefiting programs include the following:
School Habitats — EIH provides three- or six-hour in-service workshops using the WaterSmart Demonstration School Habitat Lab as a model for teachers interested in building or utilizing their own school habitat.
Summer Camps — Nature camps are designed to get first through ninth graders outside to learn about the environment. EIH provides many opportunities for outdoor exploration, wildlife observation, and fun.
Texas Envirothon — Offered in cooperation with the North American Envirothon, Texas Envirothon is part of North America's largest high school environmental education competition. The three-day competition takes place in the spring.
"LyondellBasell has been an outstanding long-term partner with the education program at EIH," said Wendy Reistle, Environmental Education Program Coordinator for EIH. "We are very grateful for their continued support," said Reistle.
