Together We Give

Students at the Texas Envirothon Competition

GivingTuesday is a global day of generosity that will take place on November 30, 2021.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

People can show their generosity in a variety of ways during GivingTuesday—whether it’s helping a neighbor, advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or giving to causes—everyone has something to give and every act of generosity counts.

Here is a list of ways you can give this GivingTuesday:

  • Volunteer on Campus
Give the gift of time by volunteering in the EIH WaterSmart School Habitat Demonstration Lab. We will meet on Tuesday, November 30, from 9-11 a.m. in front of the NOA I building on the UHCL campus. No gardening experience necessary.

  • Adopt-a-Terrapin
When you symbolically adopt a Texas diamond-backed terrapin, you help fund important research on this unique Texas species and its habitat. Through the program, you will get to name a terrapin and receive a certificate of adoption with a photo. Adopt a terrapin for yourself or to give as a gift.

  • Adopt or Name a Galveston Bay Dolphin
You can help the dolphins of Galveston Bay this GivingTuesday! EIH has partnered with Galveston Bay Foundation to establish the Galveston Bay Dolphin Research Program, which monitors the dolphin population, researches their health, ecology and behavior, and studies the impact of human-dolphin interactions. You can support this program by donating to symbolically adopt or name a dolphin, and you'll be updated throughout the year on your dolphin buddy!

  • Texas Envirothon
Help Texas high school students enhance their understanding of environmental issues and learn what it means to work as a team. This program is dependent on the generous contributions from corporations and individuals alike.
