Biography

Dr. Felix Simieou is a professor of educational administration. As a faculty member, he teaches leadership courses in school community relations, school law, principalship and transition, and change.

Most recently he served as interim associate dean of the College of Education. In this role, he was responsible for the development of academic programs, leading the strategic planning and assessment efforts, overseeing the program review process for the state, the accreditation process and other reports, and substituting for the dean.

Before serving as associate dean, he was the department chair of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. As department chair, he led and managed the college’s Ed.D. and M.S. in educational leadership as well as the educational foundations program. 

He has over 22 years of experience in education, including work as a classroom teacher, an administrator in public and private schools, and currently as an associate professor. He holds teaching certifications in Texas and Louisiana as well as principal certification in Texas. At the university, he has been program coordinator of educational leadership and served multiple chair positions in faculty senate and various commitments at the university and college levels.

Dr. Simieou has worked as a consultant with school districts, where he helped turnaround struggling schools by providing hands on assistance and guidance to novice administrators. In addition to professional development, he has served on multiple grants as a program evaluator.

He has been active in community, regional, state, and national service in various capacities including: 1) serving a panelist at the U.S. Department of Education on panels for school community relations, 2) serving as an executive board member for the Texas Council of Professors of Educational Administration (TCPEA), 3) serving as the president-elect of TCPEA, 4) providing numerous district workshops to teachers and administrators, and 5) serving as a reviewer for Educational Leadership Review and the International Journal of Education Leadership Preparation.
