BS in Addictions Counseling

Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors (LCDC) in Texas are uniquely qualified to serve children and adults with Substance Use Disorders. This is the only bachelors addictions counseling program in Texas dedicated to training LCDCs. They can:

  • Evaluate clients' substance use, or related problem behavior and assess their readiness for treatment
  • Review and recommend treatment options with clients and their families
  • Help clients develop skills and behaviors necessary to recover from their substance use or modify their behavior
  • Work with clients to identify behaviors or situations that interfere with their recovery
  • Teach families about substance use disorders and help them develop strategies to cope with those problems

MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling 

Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) in Texas are well qualified to serve a a broad spectrum of life challenges presented by clients.  They can:

  • Diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders such as depression and anxiety
  • Encourage clients to discuss their emotions and experiences
  • Help clients process their reactions and adjust to difficult changes in their life, such as divorce and layoffs
  • Guide clients through the process of making decisions about their future
  • Help clients develop strategies and skills to change their behavior and to cope with difficult situations
Clinical Mental Health Counseling, M.S.

MS in Counseling with a School Counselor Certification Concentration

Certified School Counselors (CSC) in Texas are uniquely positioned to serve students, parents, teachers, and administrators. They are the mental health coordinators of the school. They can:

  • Help students understand and overcome social or behavioral problems through classroom guidance lessons and counseling
  • Counsel individuals and small groups on the basis of student and school needs
  • Work with students to develop skills, such as organizational and time management abilities and effective study habits
  • Help students create a plan to achieve academic and career goals
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to help students succeed
  • Teach students and school staff about certain topics, such as bullying, drug abuse, and planning for college or careers after graduation
