We ask that parents do not stay in the classroom. This is due to University and state child protection training requirements as well as a legal background check. If you feel that your child is unable to remain in the classroom for more than a few minutes without you, it may be best to wait another semester before sending him/her to art class. Independent learning and socialization are part of the Art School learning experience.
Parents of students who are younger than high school age are required to remain with students until the start of class. Please do not leave your children unattended.
Every student must be picked up by a parent or authorized caregiver no later than 15 minutes after the student's class ends. Neither the school nor its staff can be held responsible for students who are not picked up within a 15 minute window. This is due to the classroom needing time to be cleaned, and set up for the following class as well as a transition in teacher. In the event that you have a personal emergency and are unable to arrive on time, please call the Art School office at 281-283-3344.
If you would like to coordinate with an older student on where to meet after class dismissal such as the hallway or parking lot, this is between you and your student. The Art School staff will not be responsible for waiting with your student.

Information regarding the Art School class cancellations will be sent when necessary via email and posted on social media. In the case the UHCL campus is closed due to holiday, the Art School will also be closed. To check for closure, you can also call the campus hotline 281-283-2221, or look here: UHCL Weather Alert

When attending the Art School, we would love to share what students are creating in class on our social media pages and website. Emergency medications are defined as (1) Epi-pens and (2) asthma inhalers, and (3) insulin pumps.
Parents/guardians are responsible for supplying the Art School with all necessary emergency medications and ensuring that such medications are not expired.
