College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)

University of Houston-Clear Lake is an open national testing center for the College Level Examination Program® (CLEP). CLEP is a national program of credit by examination that allows students the opportunity to demonstrate college-level knowledge for specific undergraduate courses. The test is designed to assess knowledge gained through accelerated, advanced or honors high school classes, as well as independent study.

An option to assist with test preparation and alleviate costs, is to use the test preparation materials from ModernStates. The organization provides free test preparation materials and practice tests for all CLEP exams. Upon completion of the course and practice test with a score of 75% or higher, a free voucher can be requested from ModernStates and used on the CLEP CollegeBoard website to purchase a CLEP exam. Please be advised that it may take up to 10 business days for vouchers to be processed. After passing the CLEP exam, a proctoring fee reimbursement can be requested from ModernStates as well.
