Higher Education Accountability System

Higher Education Accountability System
Used to track performance on critical measures that exemplify higher education institutions' missions. The System is modeled on the state's higher education plan. Its major focus is on the four Closing the Gaps target areas of participation, success, excellence and research.

IPEDS - Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP)
Provides a taxonomic scheme that supports the accurate tracking and reporting of fields of study and program completions activity. CIP was originally developed by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) 

National Postsecondary Education Cooperative (NPEC)
Voluntary organization that encompasses all sectors of the postsecondary education community including federal agencies, postsecondary institutions, associations and other organizations with a major interest in postsecondary education data collection

College Navigator
Consists primarily of the latest post-secondary data from IPEDS and NCES to search and find a college using search filters

U.S. News and World Report Education
Surveys include U.S. News Best Colleges Finance, U.S. News Best Colleges MAIN, U.S. News Best Online Bachelor’s Programs, U.S. News Best Online Computer/IT Programs Rankings. Hosts data on nearly 1,800 schools including information about undergraduate and graduate programs offered, financial aid, student life, and admissions.

Peterson's
Surveys include the Annual Survey of Undergraduate Institutions.

Common Data Set Initiative (CDS)
A collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community and publishers as represented by the College Board, Peterson's, and U.S. News & World Report. The combined goal of this collaboration is to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in a student's transition into higher education, as well as to reduce the reporting burden on data providers.

Council of Graduate Schools (CGS)

Surveys include the Survey for Graduate Enrollment and Degrees, CGS International Graduate Admissions, Phase I CGS International Graduate Admissions, and Phase III Benchmarking data. Services help member institutions assess performance in specific areas of graduate education and research and make informed decisions that benefit students, faculty, and the institution as a whole.

National Science Foundation (NSF) Survey of Graduate Students and Post-Doctorates in Science and Engineering
An independent federal agency created "to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense…". Collects information from institutions granting research-based master's degrees or doctorates in science, engineering, and selected health fields

Open Doors Annual Census of International Students
Institute of International Education (IIE) has conducted an annual statistical survey of campuses regarding the international students in the United States since 1919, and with support from the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs since the early 1970s. The census is based on a survey of approximately 3,000 accredited U.S. institutions. Open Doors also conducts and reports on separate surveys on U.S. students studying abroad for academic credit (since 1985), and on international scholars at U.S. universities and international students enrolled in pre-academic Intensive English Programs.

The College Board Tuition and Fees Survey
Mission-driven not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success and opportunity, collecting undergraduate tuition and fee information from various colleges and universities. 

ACT Institutional Data Questionnaire
Information for nearly 4,000 two-year and four-year colleges and universities, including data about enrollment, admissions, costs, financial aid, student affairs, academic programs.

National Student Clearinghouse
Relieves the administrative burdens and costs related to student data reporting and exchange. We are a nonprofit and nongovernmental organization and the leading provider of educational reporting, data exchange, verification, and research services. 

Education Commission of the States
Serves as a partner to state policymakers by providing personalized support and helping education leaders come together to learn from one another. Through our programs and services, policymakers gain the insight and experience needed to create effective education policy.
