General Assembly
Meets weekly during the fall and spring semesters and monthly in summer, open to the UHCL community.
General Assemblies are best for:
- Sharing reports and university information
- Making announcements
Request to Speak
Maximum time: 3 minutes
Eligible Speakers: UHCL students, faculty and staff
Deadline: At least two weeks before your requested meeting date.
During busy times, it takes up to three weeks to get time on the agenda.
Only UHCL students, faculty and staff may request time to speak at SG meetings. Typically, student organizations present fund requests or general events. Faculty and staff can announce workshops or events, and request volunteers. Your request is granted based on the availability of time and the nature of your announcement. You are notified by email when you can speak and for how long. Time allotted is no more than three minutes.
If making a PowerPoint, email it to sga@uhcl.edu no later than Wednesday at 12 p.m. before your scheduled date.
Sponsor a Meeting
Maximum time: 5 minutes
Eligible Speakers: UHCL students, faculty and staff
Deadline: At least two weeks before your requested meeting date.
During busy times, it takes up to three weeks to get time on the agenda.
Sponsoring a meeting includes bringing snacks for meeting attendees, tabling outside of the SSCB Lecture Hall, and the opportunity to speak at the beginning of the SG meeting.
Only UHCL students, faculty and staff may request to sponsor a Student Government meeting. Typically, student organizations present fund requests or general events. Faculty and staff can announce workshops or events, and request volunteers. Your request is granted based on the availability of time and the nature of your announcement. You are notified by email when you can speak and for how long. Time allotted is no more than five minutes.

Senate Meeting
Meets monthly during the fall and spring semesters and does not meet in summer, open to the entire UHCL community.
Senate Meetings are best for:
- Proposing constitutional or legislative changes and initiatives
- Engaging with your college representative
Request to Speak
Deadline: Two weeks before the SG Senate meeting date.
Eligible Speakers: UHCL students, faculty and staff
We welcome discussions relating to problem areas for students and recommendations for improvements or upgrades to benefit students.
If you have a PowerPoint or other document, email it to sga@uhcl.edu at least two days prior to the meeting date.
