Biography
Ms. Pham received her B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) and her
graduate degrees in Engineering Physics from University of California, San Diego.
Her graduate research involved detailed computer simulations to investigate the structure
and dynamics of turbulence in stratified environmental flows. These studies have implications
for better understanding of the physics of turbulence for large-scale flows to form
the basis of more accurate engineering models.
Prior to joining UHCL, Ms. Pham was instructional faculty at University of San Diego
(2007-2021) and at the University of Houston, Central (2021-2022). She has taught
all introductory physics courses in both small and large classes and special topic
courses, including "Physics by Inquiry," "Physics of Fluids" and "Physical Sciences
for K-12 Teachers." She has developed and served as faculty advisor for Mechanical
Engineering - Physics dual degree and Integrate Teacher Preparation Program.
Ms. Pham is passionate about helping students connect fundamental physical principles
to real-world phenomena and modern technologies. Her courses are designed to encourage
students’ curiosity about the physical universe and to facilitate an inquiry-based,
active-learning classroom environment which fosters the development of indispensable
communication and analytical skills for their lifelong exploration journey.
Away from her office, Ms. Pham enjoys traveling, hiking and building Legos with her
children.
