Biography
Dr. Limbu joined University of Houston-Clear Lake in Fall 2021. He previously worked as a postdoctoral research scholar at North Carolina State University for a year and North Carolina Central University for about three years. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from the University of Puerto Rico in 2017, with research focused on experimental materials science and materials physics. Dr. Limbu earned his master’s and bachelor’s degree in physics from Tribhuvan University in Nepal, where he was born. Nepal is a beautiful country abounding in low to high mountains, fast-current rivers, majestic lakes, magnificent waterfalls, and diverse flora and fauna — truly a great tourist destination.
Areas of Expertise
Dr. Limbu is interested in pursuing research on two-dimensional (2D) materials and
their heterostructures/nanocomposites for electronic, optoelectronic, and thermal
applications. His previous research encompasses synthesis of 2D materials by chemical
vapor deposition and wet chemistry approach such as graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides,
and MXenes, materials characterization using advanced tools such as electron microscopy,
atomic force microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Infrared
spectroscopy, and UV-visible spectroscopy, and assessing the materials for electronic,
optoelectronic, thermal, and sensing applications. Dr. Limbu is always excited to
have research collaboration with other researchers within and outside of the university.
