Computer Engineering Program
Computer Engineering (CENG) program offers Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and an accelerated 5-year B.S./M.S. Dual Degree program. With highly skilled faculty members, the program strives at delivering the highest quality education to its students by providing the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical experience using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and the latest engineering tools.
The computer engineering undergraduate program emphasizes the study of large and small computer systems for industrial, scientific and business applications. The students get hands-on experience in robotics, digital system design, communication and networks, microcontrollers, and microprocessors. Computer hardware and software concepts prepare students for engineering positions in computer related industries and for further graduate studies in related areas. The program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
The computer engineering graduate program offers five specialization areas: robotics, integrated circuits and systems, digital signal and image processing, communication and networks, and embedded system design. The program consists of formal courses, laboratory work, and faculty-guided research. The students may choose capstone option or a research-oriented thesis option. The program prepares students to occupy leading roles in the development and use of computers and computing systems.
The accelerated B.S./M.S. Dual Degree program in computer engineering is developed for high-performing CENG undergraduate students who would like to continue their graduate study in CENG M.S. program. This program can be completed in five years. Students accepted into this program can take up to six graduate credit hours that are applied to both undergraduate and graduate degrees. One major goal of this program is to build a pathway for our undergraduate students to enter the graduate degree plan at several points in their undergraduate career and complete it in a more affordable way.
The program currently has nine full-time faculty members in addition to several adjunct faculty members. Each faculty member is an expert in his/her teaching and research areas and has extensive research, industry, and/or government experience.
Computer engineering faculty members lead the efforts of Center for Robotics Software.
