Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:
It is my pleasure to announce that Eric I. Herrera will join UHCL Monday, Oct. 15, as our new Associate Vice President for Facilities Management and Construction. Mr. Herrera comes to the university from Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he has served since 2009, first as operations manager and then as director of engineering.
Mr. Herrera has more than 20 years of experience, with the last 17 in positions of management. While at Memorial Hermann Hospital, he provided oversight for the Hospital, Medical Plaza and Convenient Care Center’s physical plan, planning, design and all construction activities. In addition, he was responsible for the strategic direction and management of the operational, financial and personnel activities for the Security, Engineering and Biomedical Engineering departments. He holds certificates in Healthcare Facility Management, Healthcare Compliance, Professional Maintenance Management and as a Visible Emission Reader.
I look forward to working with Mr. Herrera as we continue to grow our campus through the addition of buildings and educational spaces, while we maintain our serene charm.
I would like to thank search committee co-chairs, UHCL Dean of Students David Rachita and UH System Vice Chancellor of Facilities/Construction Management David Oliver, as well as the rest of the dedicated search committee members for their service during this search process.
Please join me in welcoming Mr. Herrera to UHCL.
Sincerely,
Ira K. Blake, Ph.D.
