Mr. Joseph L. Staley to be UHCL's new vice president for University Advancement
May 7, 2019
Dear Faculty and Staff:
I am thrilled to announce that Mr. Joseph L. Staley has accepted our offer to join
University of Houston-Clear Lake’s leadership team as our new vice president for University
Advancement beginning July 1, 2019.
Mr. Staley comes to UHCL from Johnson & Wales University, where he was vice chancellor
for Resource Development and provided oversight, vision and strategic planning for
all fundraising and alumni relations activities. At JWU, he launched the university’s
first comprehensive fundraising campaign slated to raise $75 million university-wide.
He secured approximately $9 million in philanthropic contributions last year – the
most in a single year in the university’s history.
In addition, he oversaw the launch of enhanced programming to more effectively engage the university’s 100,000-plus alumni.
Mr. Staley brings extraordinary acumen and experience in philanthropy and will expand UHCL’s ability to connect to the generosity of our alumni and external stakeholders.
Sincerely,
Ira K. Blake, Ph.D.
President
