Biography

James Upright, Ph.D., is the director of the Psychological Services Clinic at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from North Carolina State University and doctoral degree in school psychology from Louisiana State University. His graduate research examined strategies to promote and maintain the implementation of positive behavioral interventions and supports. He completed his pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral training at Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District and practiced as a full-time school psychologist. His professional experiences include psychological assessments and evaluations for special education services, counseling with children and adolescents, consultation with school staff and parents, and parent training (e.g., Incredible Years Autism Spectrum & Language Delays Parenting Program). Outside the clinic, James can often be found running or bike riding.
