Biography
Davida Chatman is a native Texan and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing.
She has 22 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and in Advanced Practice across
various nursing specialties, including acute pediatric emergency care, management
and leadership, community and population health, and nursing education. Ms. Chatman
earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Prairie View A&M University,
her master's degree from the University of Phoenix in Arizona, and a post-master's
certificate in nursing education from the UT Health Science Center in Houston, TX.
Before her position at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL), Ms. Chatman was
a nurse clinician at Harris Health and Texas Children’s Hospital. She also served
as adjunct faculty at the University of Houston-Sugar Land, and most recently, she
was a nurse simulation educator at the UT Health Science Center.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Chatman is dedicated to serving
her professional community. She mentors undergraduate and graduate nursing students,
volunteers with her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, where she co-chairs
the Enhance the Environment Committee in partnership with Keep Pearland Beautiful,
and advocates for social justice. She is also involved with the Texas Nursing Association
District #9 and was nominated as a board member in July 2023 for a three-year term.
