Biography
Jennifer Arney Cuevas, Ph.D., is a professor of sociology and women's studies at University of Houston-Clear Lake and an adjunct assistant professor of medicine at Baylor College of Medicine.
A native Texan, she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in sociology from
Texas Tech University and her Ph.D. in sociology, with an emphasis in medical sociology,
from Arizona State University.
Prior to joining the UHCL sociology faculty, Dr. Arney Cuevas completed a post-doctoral
research fellowship at the Houston Health Services Research and Development Center
of Excellence, where she developed a research program focused on physician-patient
communication and medical decision making.
In addition to teaching courses in medical sociology, women's studies, and research
methodology at UHCL, she continues to conduct health services research at the Michael
E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston.
