Student Employees
A student employment position is a temporary, hourly, part-time job that is funded by the department. This position type should have a flexible work hours designed to accommodate the student's class schedule and other academic responsibilities. The student hired must meet and maintain all minimum student employment eligibility requirements.
The pay rates listed below become effective 09/01/2023.

The descriptions attached may be used as a guide when determining what title should be used for student employee(s). Departmental pay practices normally determine how much is paid within the established range, based on the complexity of work and level of responsibility. Students who have gained experience, have demonstrated competence, and/or have special qualifications may be paid at a higher rate based on the complexity of the work performed.
Student Intern
Internships are professional work experiences related to student career interests. These structured experiences focus on student learning outcomes and professional development. They are designed to allow students to gain practical experience while taking courses toward their degree completion.

College Work Study Program
Federal Work-Study provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student's course of study.
The Work Study Program for each position is assigned by Financial Aid. The job class
codes, job titles, pay rates, and salary schedules are the same. The student flags,
override objects, and earning codes are different.
For both Federal and State programs, hiring department pays 25% of students salary.

Graduate Assistants
Graduate Assistant: Graduate student who assists a school or department with non-
academic support duties and must relate to degree plan.
Instructional Assistant: Instruction assistants (IA) are graduate students who do
not have direct instructional duties but assist employing departments with academic
courses, programs, projects, or other activities in support of the instructional process
and must relate to a degree plan.
Research Assistant: Research Assistants are graduate students who are engaged in research
activities (including but not limited to work in the lab or computer work) that support
the research mission of the employing unit.
