The Spaceflight Human Optimization and Performance Summit-2023, to be held at University of Houston-Clear Lake April 27-29, will connect thought leaders in strength and conditioning, sport science, psychology, nutrition and other related disciplines in a forum to address the physical readiness of astronauts for extended-duration spaceflight.

Randall Sharp never pictured himself finishing a four-year degree, much less starting a graduate program. But Sharp, who transferred to University of Houston-Clear Lake from Alvin Community College and is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, will be crossing the stage this December to receive his bachelor's in fitness and human performance and begin his exercise and health sciences master’s in the spring.

The Low Carb Houston Conference at the University of Houston-Clear Lake on Oct. 25-27 has been organized to address and examine nutritional strategies to improve chronic disease. Health care providers, scientists, nutritionists and other experts in the field will examine many facets and nuances of carbohydrate restriction to improve metabolic consequences and chronic diseases arising from a standard American diet during the event in the university's Bayou Theater.
