Tiernan Pytlak

Tiernan Pytlak is a graduate research assistant with the Environmental Institute of Houston (EIH) while pursuing a master's degree at University of Houston-Clear Lake. Tiernan's work at EIH involves a multitude of projects including the Texas Clean Rivers Program, Critical Life History Parameters of the Texas Diamond-backed Terrapin, and Establishing a Network of Eel Ramps to Monitor Recruitment of Glass and Elver American Eel.

Tiernan earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston and is pursuing a Master of Science in Environmental Science with a Specialization in Biology as well as an Environmental Management Certificate. Her master's project will focus on Amazon River water quality analysis and land use changes. After graduation, Tiernan aims to work in conservation, focusing on water ecosystems.

In her free time, Tiernan enjoys caring for her many plants, listening to music, taking long walks with her dog, Atari, and, when the opportunity arises, deep-sea fishing.
