Shelby Yahn
Shelby Yahn was a bottlenose dolphin research assistant with the Environmental Institute of Houston at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She received her MRes in marine mammal science from the University of St. Andrews, UK, and B.S. in marine biology and psychobiology from the University of New England, Maine. Yahn has participated in a wide variety of marine mammal research projects, including morphometrics of Hawaiian delphinids, photo-identification of Florida manatees, population ecology of Puerto Rican humpback whales, acoustic repertoires of Aleutian Island killer whales, and necropsy investigation of numerous stranded species. She has also spent four years as a marine animal rehabilitation technician in Maine, and three years as a North Pacific groundfish observer in Alaska. Her research interests center around marine mammal behavioral ecology, physiology, and morphometry.
