students and incoming new Hawks.

Monday, August 19
Kick-Off Kolaches
8:30 a.m. - 9:30a.m.
Hunter Hall Kitchen/Lobby
Join us at Hunter Hall to kick off UHCL's Weeks of Welcome with delicious kolaches and great company. While you're here, take a guided tour to explore the on-campus living experience and discover what makes Hunter Hall a special place to Live, Learn, and Engage.
This event brings UHCL students, faculty, and staff together for a shared breakfast, creating opportunities to connect with both new and returning students while engaging with the broader campus community.

UHCL Recreation and Wellness Center
Welcome Back Bash is open to all UHCL students as a welcome to the campus community! This is an opportunity for students to learn about the amazing organizations at UHCL, enjoy free food, games, and other fun activities! Students that attend will have an opportunity to receive a T-shirt, can earn giveaways and swag bags, and this year we will be giving away a $500 bookstore voucher to the winner of our basketball challenge.

Hawks 4 Community (H4C) Beryl Campus Clean-Up Day

Hawks 4 Community is coordinating a campus-wide clean-up for students, faculty and staff to participate. We are calling on volunteers to help pick up trash, small debris, and other items to keep our community beautiful. This is a great opportunity to come together and serve our community. Fresh Check Day, the signature program of the Jordan Porco Foundation, is an uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event for colleges that includes interactive expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support of multiple campus departments and groups, free food, entertainment, exciting prizes and giveaways. Fresh Check Day aims to create an approachable and hopeful atmosphere where students are encouraged to engage in dialogue about mental health and helps to build a bridge between students and the mental health resources available on campus, in the community, and nationally.

This information session will introduce incoming military and veteran students to the Office of Military and Veteran Services (OMVS), explore campus resources, and connect with fellow veterans.
Red Zone with Title IX

Join us for a crucial program with the Title IX Department and Bay Area Turning Point Organization, raising awareness about the "Red Zone"—the critical first six weeks of the semester when students face a higher risk of sexual assault. This event offers valuable resources, education, and strategies to help prevent incidents and promote a safer, more respectful campus community at UHCL. By participating in Red Zone, students are introduced to a wide range of educational information that can assist them in their college experience.

A scavenger hunt for student services! Students will visit all participating offices and will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card. Participating offices are: Writing Center, Student Success Center, Accessibility Support Center, Testing Center, Exploring Majors Office, Academic Advising: College of Human Sciences and Humanities, and Academic Advising: College of Business.
Resourceful Wednesday's Lunch & Learn: Community Health Network Whole Student Concierge Package

Common Reader Kick-Off: Field Trip to Houston Cultural Sites

Join the UHCL Common Reader Program on a free, immersive tour of Houston's major artistic, historical, and culinary sites to celebrate the new book the UHCL community is reading, Take My Hand, a twisty historical novel about a young nurse who must stand up for justice when her community is threatened.
