Biography

Dr. Silvana Chambers is an assistant professor of management. She holds a Ph.D. in human resource development with a specialization in organization development and change from the University of Texas at Tyler, for which she was given the Outstanding PhD in HRD award. She was also the recipient of the competitive and prestigious Esworthy Malcolm S. Knowles Dissertation of the Year award by the Academy of Human Resource Development. 

Dr. Chambers has over 15 years of industrial experience in national and international markets, much of which involved managing teams and functional areas. As superintendent of compensation and workforce planning of the largest gold mining operation in the Americas for Newmont Mining, a Fortune 500 company, she managed a cross-functional team of HR professionals.

Dr. Chambers maintains an active research agenda that explores issues of power and privilege in relation to leadership, and organization environmental issues (e.g. political climate, social movements, legislation). She is concerned with how inequality takes shape and is reproduced in work groups, organizations, and societies.
