Students who graduate from a Texas high school under the recommended or advanced/distinguished high school curriculum will meet UHCL's course requirements. In order to be most competitive for admission, students who graduate from out-of-state high schools or from Texas schools that do not participate in the recommended or advanced/distinguished program, including private schools and home schools, must meet the college readiness standards as defined in the Uniform Admission Policy. Additionally, students must meet our minimum coursework requirements to be most competitive for admission. UHCL's admission requirements are in compliance with Texas Education Code section 51.803, and are subject to change.
The State Board of Education adopted changes to the high school graduation requirements in January 2012. The new requirements are effective beginning with students who enter grade 9 in the 2012-2013 school year. View the new graduation requirements.
