The Division of Administration and Finance is dedicated to offering the highest quality customer service and to the successful delivery of efficient and effective operations designed to support the academic goals of our students, enrich their experience at UHCL, facilitate the efficient operation of other university divisions, and support the mission of the University. We strive for continuous process improvement, the professional and holistic development of our staff so they may fulfill their mission, and sustainable and resilient operations.

Terry Hanson, Vice President for Administration and Finance/Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Terry Hanson was appointed Vice President for Administration and Finance/Chief Financial Officer at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in July 2025. With more than 15 years of leadership experience in higher education and public-sector finance, Mr. Hanson brings a deep commitment to financial stewardship, institutional growth, and innovation in service delivery.

Prior to joining UHCL, Mr. Hanson served as Vice President of Administrative Services and CFO at Kilgore College, where he led efforts to modernize financial operations and enhance information technology systems. His leadership portfolio there included oversight of business services, procurement, financial aid, and IT, with a strong focus on operational efficiency and accountability.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Hanson held senior finance roles with the City of Fort Worth and Sheboygan County. He managed large-scale operating and capital budgets, implemented enterprise resource planning systems, and developed strategic financial models to ensure long-term institutional sustainability. His cross-sector experience includes facilities planning, public safety collaborations, and compensation reform—making him a versatile and forward-thinking leader.

Mr. Hanson holds an M.B.A. from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and a B.S. in Accounting from Bemidji State University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
