Marty Baylor, Interim Vice President for Administration and Finance
Mr. Marty Baylor was appointed to serve as Interim Vice President for Administration
and Finance in May 2024. Mr. Baylor has over 35 years of experience in corporate business
and higher education.
Prior to his role at UHCL, Mr. Baylor served as Interim Vice President for Administration
and Finance at the University of Houston-Downtown and as Executive Vice President
for Finance and Administration at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. His career
also includes significant positions at The University of Texas-Pan American, The University
of Texas at Dallas, The University of Texas at San Antonio, Baylor College of Dentistry,
and The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.
Mr. Baylor's educational background, with an M.B.A. from Baylor University and a B.S. from Illinois State University, along with his extensive experience, equips him well for his new role. His career, marked by several leadership positions in higher education, encompasses developing and managing strategic financial structures, enhancing facilities and sustainability efforts, and strengthening community engagement. He has implemented innovative budget systems, streamlined operational processes, and led significant construction projects. His expertise in strategic planning, fiscal management, and administrative efficiency directly aligns with UHCL's goals, making him an exemplary choice to lead our Administration and Finance Division during this transition period.
