Those transferring in Texas core and FOS complete, typically only have 60 hours remaining to complete at the junior- and senior-level for the B.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice. The B.S. can be completed in as little as 2 years by taking 10 online courses per year (20 online courses total), across the fall, spring and summer semesters.

For the UHCL Online program, students typically complete the Texas Core Curriculum, and the Criminology and Criminal Justice Field of Study (FOS) at their local community college.

This 'completer' program combines the freshman and sophomore level courses, earned elsewhere, with the junior and senior level courses required to obtain the degree. For the second time in 11 years, the Houston City Council has appointed a University of Houston-Clear Lake alumnus as the city's chief of police. Troy Finner, who completed his Master of Arts in Criminology in 2009, was unanimously elected to the city's highest law enforcement position.
