With your Occupational Safety and Health Bachelor of Science from University of Houston-Clear Lake, you'll develop skills to anticipate, recognize and evaluate potential hazards. Safety Specialization

Focuses on anticipation, identification and evaluation of hazardous conditions and practices. Geared more towards engineering and physics aspect of safety, ergonomics and management of occupational safety and health programs and regulations.

Industrial Hygiene Specialization

Involves anticipation, recognition, evaluation, prevention and control of workplace environmental factors or stresses that may impair health or cause significant discomfort for individuals. Geared more towards assessing workplace stressors.

ABET: Applied and Natural Science Accreditation CommissionThe Occupational Safety and Health - Safety (B.S.) program is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission's General Criteria and Program Criteria for Safety and Similarly Named Programs.



Institute of Hazardous Materials ManagementThe undergraduate occupational safety and health degrees are also approved by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management, and taught by skilled faculty who are fully certified in the field of industrial hygiene and safety.



BCSP QAP - Qualified Academic ProgramThe Occupational Safety and Health Program, with specializations in industrial hygiene and/or safety, is recognized as a Qualified Academic Program (QAP) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). Graduates of a QAP are eligible to apply for the Graduate Safety Practitioner® (GSP®), a BCSP-approved credential necessary to apply for the Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®). It is only available to graduates from degree programs which meet BCSP QAP standards.
