Mechanical Engineering B.S. Admission Requirements
New Incoming Undergraduate Students: Apply online through Apply Texas for admission to the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Documents for admission are submitted after completion of the Apply Texas application.
All required documents are due by the Freshman, Transfer, and International Admissions
application deadlines.
Application Process (Major Changes) for Current UHCL Students: Current UHCL students who wish to be considered for admission into the Mechanical
Engineering, BS program must meet the same secondary admission criteria as transfer
students. Upon meeting with an academic advisor, current students will submit an Academic Record Change Form (PDF) to the Office of Academic Advising in the College of Science and Engineering to apply
for a Major Change.
Auto-Admission Criteria Freshman Requirements
All new incoming first-year undergraduate students with 0-29 college credit hours or students entering college for the first time after high school graduation.
For admission into the Mechanical Engineering program applicants must meet the following minimum criteria.

Recommended preparation courses for Mechanical Engineering include completion of the following either in high school or through dual credit:
- Precalculus (MATH 2412) and/or Calculus (MATH 2413)
Auto-Admission Criteria Transfer Students and Major Changes for Current Students
All new incoming transfer undergraduate students that have completed 30 or more college
hours after high school graduation.
To be considered for admission into the Mechanical Engineering, BS program, students
must meet the GPA requirements shown in the table below and must have credit for (can
include AP credit).
