Mathematical Science B.S.
An Education that Combines Theory and Practice
Your Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences from University of Houston-Clear Lake will expose you to a number of mathematical disciples, including data science, actuarial science, statistics, operations research and more. You'll gain mastery of both the classical foundations of mathematics and the modern concern with numerical issues spawned by computers and technology in courses like Number Theory, Topology, and Math Software Applications. All your courses provide hands-on research experience and access to state-of-the-art computer labs.
Your Career Opportunities are Greatly Enhanced
Upon completing this degree, you'll have many career options open to you in which
your strong mathematical background will come into play. These include data analyst,
software engineer, actuary, mathematics educator, computer systems analyst, computer
programmer, mathematician and statistician, and operations research analyst. Women
and minorities tend to be under-represented in careers that require a degree in mathematical
sciences, so employers are particularly eager to seek qualified candidates to rectify
those imbalances.
This degree also offers an option to specialize in data science, and an option to
specialize in actuarial science.
