Learn to support your ideas as you engage closely with texts, as well as to craft compelling creative and discursive writing. Learn to articulate your intellectual curiosity and innovative thinking as you develop nuanced critical and creative thinking and writing skills. School is a natural home for lifelong learners and gifted writers, leading many Literature majors to become teachers for at least parts of their careers. Additionally, cultural knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills create opportunities in the worlds of non-profit, government, online, corporate or small businesses. Literature graduates work in publishing, communications, public relations, and job training, as literature majors intelligently and efficiently process information, solve problems and communicate results. In consultation with their advisers and the Office of Career Services, students may wish to elect a minor that will help prepare them for their chosen career paths.
