Master of Science in Educational Management with Principal as Instructional Leader Certification
Leverage your leadership strengths.
The University of Houston-Clear Lake, with its alumni footprint throughout Texas and especially the Houston area, provides its graduates not only with a state-recognized high-quality preparation program, but also with the networking capacity to find mentors and colleagues who share and understand the expectations of great leaders. In schools from Sealy to Beaumont, from Galveston to Conroe, you will find UHCL alumni in educational leadership positions who are very willing to support your professional goals. With their support and the support of others, your efforts as a candidate will land you the position you seek. Imagine having the benefits of academic and fieldwork experiences that provide you with the professional understanding of the "right things" and the evidence that shows you've done them.
You'll become prepared to bring innovative and workable solutions to the challenges you'll face as a school administrator, and you'll build the needed skills to evaluate transformational concepts and technologies, conduct meaningful assessments and develop curricula that meet a wide range of learning objectives. Because courses are offered both face-to-face and in an online hybrid format, you have the flexibility to complete your coursework according to your work schedule.
Become a Change Leader in Your School
Learn to model the behaviors of collaboration and effective teaching that you'll expect from the teachers on your staff. You're on your way to becoming an instructional innovator and coach, and that's why your coursework focuses on educational leadership skills, effective leadership in learning environments, state and federal school law, and school finance. In addition to the Master of Science with Principal as Instructional Leader Certification, you will also earn the required Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL) and Texas Teachers Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) certificates.
