Career Outcomes

Graduates of UHCL's Aerospace Engineering program are well-equipped for a variety of roles in the rapidly growing aerospace sector. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics 2023 data, aerospace engineers can earn $130,720 per year, or $68.25 an hour. The profession is also projected to grow by 6% through 2033, which is faster than average for all occupations. In 2023, employers listed 68,900 aerospace engineer position vacancies.

Accreditations and Distinctions

The program is also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). This means that the university has complied with the standards contained in the Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement and with the policies and procedures of the Commission on Colleges.

The aerospace engineering program will apply for accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET as soon as the first student graduates from the program, which is the earliest opportunity that ABET allows.

Aerospace Engineering B.S. Admission Requirements

Auto-Admission Criteria Freshman Requirements

All new incoming first-year undergraduate students with 0-13 college credit hours or students entering college for the first time after high school graduation.

For admission into the Aerospace Engineering program applicants must meet the following minimum criteria.

Students without a class rank or test scores will be reviewed based on CGPA:

  • High School CGPA of 3.25 and higher – Direct Admission into Aerospace Engineering, BS program.
  • High School CGPA of below 3.24 – Students who meet UHCL regular admission criteria can be admitted as Pre-Engineering.

Recommended preparation courses for Aerospace Engineering include completion of the following either in high school or through dual credit:

  • Precalculus (MATH 2412) and/or Calculus (MATH 2413)
